In early April, I had the opportunity to visit with two dioceses as they discern CBA membership. Our discussions emphasized the importance of Catholic ministries and employers coming together as secular institutions drift further away from an understanding of faith and its impact on all that we do. We call this the Power of Association.

Over the 10 years since CBA’s founding, we have witnessed the steadfast commitment of Catholic employers, like you, to our faith-based values in the workplace. At the same time, we have also experienced exponentially increased pressures from government mandates seeking to eliminate our religious liberties.

What started with the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive mandate is now a formidable array of directives and statutes at both federal and state levels. They include gender transition services requirements, SOGI (Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity) employment and worker accommodation rules, and Title VII antidiscrimination rules based on ideologically expanded definitions of sex, gender, equality, inclusion, and reproductive health care.

For almost any Catholic employer, navigating this regulatory environment safely while remaining faithful to our teaching is impossible. This is why the Power of Association is more important than ever. At CBA our members stand together in the defense of the rights of our religious rights. CBA serves as a shield, providing durable legal protections, strategic guidance, and invaluable support to ensure that our employment practices and benefits align with our faith.

By standing together, our members benefit from cost-effective legal action and expert advice. Membership provides legal relief from illicit government intrusion. With these rights secured, CBA membership also includes personalized Catholic-informed consultative services covering legal and regulatory matters, human resources practices, professional development, and health plan compliance with Catholic values.

To continue our record of success, we must continue to grow.

If your organization is not a member yet, now is the time to learn how membership can benefit your organization. Please, reach out to Mandy Cox (Email Mandy) or to me directly (Email Doug).

Now more than ever, the Power of Association is vital to our future. Together, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to uphold Catholic moral principles in both our benefits and employment practices.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our shared mission.
